Santiago de Couxela belonging to the Ribadeo Arciprestazgo had in 1991 an area of almost 40 inhabitants / km 2 to 185 inhabitants of the parish.

Couxela is located in the south-east of the municipality of Asturias and separated by the River e. is one of the smaller parishes of Ribadeo, since its surface is only 4.9 km ².

No stream runs through the parish and that the existing boundaries, is limited throughout the north and east by VIlaosende Cedofeita.

To the south, the river boundary to Foster with Trabada and southeastern sector is bounded by the river, which separates it from neighboring municipality of Asturias Vegadeo.

Despite his lesser extent, has 12 villages: Couples, Sale, Cima de Vila, iRex, Cerdeiriña, sendin, Casanova, niche, Xunqueira, Moural, Rego and Meizán.
